Burgundy: A cook’s tour
Whether you consider yourself a gourmet, a gourmand, or a simply a foodie, this is the culinary program for you in Burgundy. The Cook’s Atelier is a long time advocate of the philosophy behind Slow Food, and is committed to the connection between the farmer and the cook. We take the pleasures of the table seriously and invite you to join us for a magical visit to Burgundy.
To a food and wine lover, Burgundy is heaven on earth and its unspoiled landscape and culinary traditions offer a real taste of authentic France. A cook’s tour gives you a chance to learn about the culture and lifestyle of the region through a cook’s view.
Join Marjorie as she teams up with wine professionals to introduce you to a genuine Burgundian wine and food experience. Literally a “field to fork” dining celebration as you enjoy menus based on what is in season, local and market inspired. Enjoy a unforgettable experience as you savor the bounty of the region around the table with family and friends.
The Cook’s Atelier offers programs geared to those interested in the food, wine and lifestyle of France with a focus on real food, made from scratch. They are designed for curious home cooks with a passion for all things French as well as local and sustainable ingredients.
During the hands-on cooking classes, everyone has the opportunity to participate as much or as little in the preparation as their moods dictate. For the serious cooks, this means learning the secrets to the perfect boeuf bourguignon or coq au vin, learning to tie a roast, or the art of making confiture from the apricots we just picked up at the morning market. For others, it means sipping wine as you take notes or honing your photography skills as you capture the moment. The philosophy of the program is designed to inspire you to celebrate the season around your table with friends and family.
Each tour is unique and is personalized depending on your interests and designed for small groups. In addition to market shopping and hands-on cooking classes, it may include a visit to a local farm, dinner with a winemaker, a morning with a beekeeper, a lesson in charcuterie or a field trip to an artisan cheesemaker. In addition to exploring the food of Burgundy, you may have the option to include a bike or walking tour through the vineyards and tastings in the legendary wine villages around Beaune, such as Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, Volnay, and Meursault or a tour of the historic Hospices de Beaune.
Whether you join a scheduled tour, or you prefer to book a personal tour with family or friends to celebrate a special birthday or family reunion, you will have the opportunity to experience the region as a local. I take care of all the tiny, perfect details and thoughtful extra touches to bring it all together to make sure your visit is truly unforgettable.
