At the height of the season, we open our doors to visitors who are interested in experiencing a convivial cooking class and dining experience. A Day in Burgundy is a day of exploring, cooking, and tasting designed to introduce guests to the gastronomic culture of the region. Guests join us from around the world, drawn together by a shared love of food, wine, and France and enjoy a delightful day with us in our Atelier! This program includes a two-hour hands-on cooking class in our Atelier kitchen, a Champagne apéritif followed by a six-course menu including a local cheese course, and a Burgundian wine pairing hand-selected from our wine shop (a selection of Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines).

In our Atelier teaching kitchen, everyone will don an apron, standing behind their cutting board as we talk through the day’s menu. We will explain and demonstrate the classic French culinary techniques used in the day’s menu, from sautéing to searing to sauce-making, and then everyone will get to work prepping the ingredients and participating in the hands-on cooking class.

Once the cooking is complete, guests head upstairs to our light-filled dining room where Champagne flutes are filled and toast one another in anticipation of the long French lunch ahead. The zinc-topped table is set in beautiful French fashion with vintage linens and cutlery, fresh flowers, and plenty of candlelight. The menu is constantly changing, depending on the season, and is always full of new surprises from our favorite artisan food producers and from The Cook's Atelier kitchen garden.

All instruction is in English.

“Dear Marjorie, Kendall and Laurent. We are writing from across the Atlantic with full hearts and, honestly, still very full stomachs. Our day at The Cook's Atelier on April 23rd was one of those rare experiences that exceeds every expectation. From the moment we stepped into your beautiful 17th-century atelier, we felt not like visitors passing through, but like guests welcomed into your home. What you have built together — a mother and daughter, American expats who dared to follow a dream to Burgundy — is nothing short of extraordinary. The care you bring to every detail, from the relationships you've nurtured with local farmers and artisan producers to the way you teach classic French technique with such warmth and ease, made the day feel both educational and deeply joyful. We cooked, we ate, we tasted wonderful wine — but what we will carry with us longest is the conversation. There is something about gathering around a kitchen and a table that opens people up, and you create exactly that kind of atmosphere. We made new friends that day, and that is entirely to your credit. Thank you, Marjorie and Kendall, for sharing your passion, your kitchen, your stories, and your little corner of Burgundy with us. What you have created en famille is truly special, and we feel lucky to have been part of it, even for just one beautiful day. With warmest gratitude and a great deal of affection.”

“When the opportunity arose during our honeymoon to France to visit 'The Cook's Atelier' my husband and I jumped at the opportunity (and yes, I don't deny that I squealed in delight when I received confirmation that we had a place in their famed cooking school). The day was finally here! After admiring these inspiring women from afar, I was finally going to meet them. From the moment we met the family, we were warmly welcomed. Firstly Kendall's husband, Laurent and their son, Luc. Laurent made Con's day by making him 'the best coffee we've had to date in Europe' and they quickly developed a rapport about their mutual love of coffee and wine. Food and wine are wonderful ice-breakers to bring people together. And there is simply nothing that makes my heart smile more than enjoying a day cooking, meeting new people and eating and drinking the afternoon away. Marjorie and Kendall were so engaging, bubbly and their passion for French food and their business shone through. They are even more inspiring when you meet them in person. We spent 'A Day in Burgundy' exploring, cooking and tasting seasonal produce from the region along with three other couples from different parts of the US. We met as strangers and left as friends. It was the perfect day.”

“This experience was amazing and did not disappoint. The hospitality that this family offers is world class and worth the trip to Beaune in itself. Sophisticated, classic and elegant. We will definitely be recommending this experience to all our friends and guests looking to visit this magical region in France.”

"Kendall, Marjorie and Laurent. Mark and I can’t thank you enough for a completely magical day. Everything was amazing from start to finish. The food, the wine, the new friends, the cooking and the techniques - especially the trussing! We can’t wait to get our cookbooks to share with friends. We will tell everyone we know about the special place you have created. We wish you only best.”

“Marjorie, Kendall and Laurent. I just want to thank you for the extraordinary day! After such a long wait it truly exceeded expectations. Everyone was so wonderful and you all did a phenomenal job in balancing the learning aspects of French cooking to the 5 star quality lunch with an outstanding wine tasting pairing. We look forward to visiting you again in the not too distant future and we will be sure to keep in touch via Instagram or email. Laurent - I will be sure to check the wine list periodically and place an order from time to time.”

“I pulled out the copy of your cookbook that was gifted to me after our initial discovery of your shop - thank you Marie at L'Hôtel de Beaune - it literally gave me goosebumps to read your words…. they jumped off the page and instantly put me right back there. It meant so much more to read them after the experience and then seeing the photos and thinking, ‘I cooked right there’, ‘I used that pot’, 'I was in that space’.... I don't have the words. You all are such a special family and I felt instantly at home around you. I so look forward to my return.”
